Web sites with animation work best in the latest versions of the most popular browsers, such as Internet Explorer and Netscape. You can upgrade your browser by going to the company Web site and clicking Downloads. The "smart update" ability of the current browsers can detect which version you currently have and then update it without losing your bookmarks and other settings. The current browser versions (Internet Explorer 5.0-5.5 and Netscape 6.0) include the Flash plug-in. Even with an older browser, you can enjoy Flash animated sites by downloading the Flash plug-in from the Macromedia site and installing it in your browser. Installation is easy and instructions are provided on the Macromedia site. To get the full benefit of multimedia Web sites which may include sound and video, several other plug-ins should be installed: the Quicktime Player from Apple for PC and Mac, the Windows Media Player and the Real Player for streaming audio and video. All plug-ins should be placed in the browser's Plug-ins folder.
