| A waterfall empties into the Liwu River, which continues to deepen the gorge at a rate of 2 centimeters a year. The landscape originated 230 million years ago as a coral reef, then transformed over time into limestone. With intense heat and pressure, the limestone became marble over millions of years. | ||||
