Hualien,
located on the eastern coast of Taiwan, is famous for its marble products.
Marble is cut from the nearby mountains, brought down to the city, and
polished and sculpted there. Even the sidewalks in Hualien are made of
marble. The city is also the gateway to nearby Taroko Gorge National Park,
where the marble mountains are preserved.
